Week 2

1.PRAY: Seek God’s wisdom to reach those individuals, churched or unchurched, that will attend the event. Ask for God’s guidance in selecting leadership. Be thankful for those volunteers that will come forward to be teachers and workers to complete the day.
 2. PLAN: Look backwards to look forward. Ask how many people have participated in past years? How big is the area that we want to reach into? What goals do we need to set to measure our success? Do we have a theme? What type of event(s) do we want to plan? Think about a breakfast before your service, a church picnic after your service or a full Rally Sunday including a game festival.
 3. PROMOTE: Let people know what the goal is, your vision for the day including events and plans your leadership has developed. Everyone wants to know the details so they can contribute. Don’t keep it a secret – people will volunteer when they feel included in the process.
 4. PARTICIPATION: The Bible says we are many parts but all one body. We all have gifts to share. Ask for volunteers. Sometimes we need to ask publicly, sometimes we need to ask in private. Leadership is recognizing individual gifts even when the person doesn’t see them. Encourage everyone.
 5. PREPARE: Look at the eight week time line and follow the process by completing each week’s task. It’s easy to have a successful event when it is done little by little. Procrastination will not provide success. Prepare by providing all the necessary supplies and support to the task each week. Recognize those that are making a difference. Say thank-you! Remember not to seek perfection but excellence.
We look forward to hearing about your ideas, your successes and your challenges. We want to partner with you to reach into your community to invite people to participate in God’s word and your church family. Each week we will expand ideas for each of the eight weeks that we have identified . . . so stay engaged.
