Week 3

Prayer Committee: This is the beginning of all your efforts. God knows who He wants us to reach. We need to seek His will. Schedule prayer groups to pray for support, guidance, strength and direction. Your success is His success. Ask, Seek, Knock and the door will be opened.

(Matthew 7:7-12) “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Education Committee: (If one is not already formed.) Schedule the Sunday School plan for the year. Does it include adult education? Invite the teachers and the students to participate. Plan for visitors. Remember to make learning fun!

Marketing Committee:  Planning an event takes work. If you fail to invite enough people, then all your efforts do not produce fruit. The marketing committee needs to focus in two areas. First, setting a plan for personal invitations from your membership. Second, planning to reach into the community to people that have no connection to your congregation. How do you reach the person down the block looking for a church home? How do you tell your story to the person across town? Some ideas would include: using the Community Canvass Mailing program that reaches into zip codes in your surrounding community; door hangers to distribute to your members to canvass their neighborhood and make a personal connection; Banners and Yard Signs that invite people passing by traffic areas around your church. Marketing pieces should be done professionally as they represent your church. Plan this month to have them produced so they can be distributed in August. Remember, when you have a gathering at your home you need to invite twice as many people as you want to show up. Those are your friends. When inviting the community, it is important to reach all areas so you can have a successful Rally Sunday. See our link for more information on our Community Canvass Mailing program.

Welcome Committee:
How will you make your first impression? Who in your church family reaches out and makes you feel included? Your welcome should set your visitors at ease. Let them know you are glad they made a decision to join you. Let them know how to become a part of your Church “Family”. Include your youth as ambassadors. Don’t forget to plan for information for visitors to take home. This should be an appetizer not a meal. Remember – not too much information.  How do you make sure they know how to reach you. A professional welcome packet is an excellent hand out that includes a leaflet, calling card, registration card all in your personalized folder.

Reception Committee:  Budget for the refreshments and food. Plan a menu: Coffee and Donuts, a Breakfast, a Picnic or a Potluck. Set the menu and gather volunteers to help the day before and the day of your Rally Sunday.  When you invite people to gather at your home for a meal they feel part of your family. Your visitors will feel the same when you invite them to share a meal. Make this experience memorable.

Sparkle Committee:  Choose a committee that knows how to polish and shine. Visitors do not expect your church to be extravagant. They do expect it to be in good repair and clean. You want them to feel at home, as if it is their new church home (“mi casa es su casa”).

Follow up Committee:  You work hard to invite the community into your church. We plan your message, welcome your visitors and provide hospitality. Put your best foot forward to befriend and spread the word of God to your neighbors. So is that where it ends? The relationship with your visitor, like your relationship with Christ, is just starting. How will you stay in touch and in the word?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
